Work is targeted to start on April 5 for Union Avenue. As a result, Union Avenue will be closed to through traffic with posted detours in the area.

The closure will occur for bridge repair work between William Street and Edies Way.

Union Avenue to William Street will be accessible from the I-279 and Highland Road portions.

Bellevue is experiencing a power outage throughout a large portion of the Borough.  Traffic signals are impacted, please use caution while driving.

Castle Shannon Police took a report of a prowler in a dark jacket trying vehicle door handles after 11pm on Tuesday March 16, 2021 in the area of Myrtle Ave and Pine Ave.

Officers responded and did identify subjects in the area generally fitting the description of the actors.

Please check your surveillance video and report any potential evidence to the Castle Shannon Police Department.

This is an opportunity to remind residents to LOCK vehicles, even if they are parked in your driveway. It also a good idea to remove valuables from parked cars.

A contractor will be working on McRoberts Rd between Loma and Weyman in Whitehall Borough starting Monday March 15, 2021.

Traffic will be detoured around the closure, which is expected to take approximately six weeks.

The main detour should be Rte 88 to Grove Rd to Baptist to Weyman and the reverse.

Traffic is expected to find its way into the neighborhood feeder streets and Castle Shannon Police will be monitoring for speed and other traffic violations.

The heaviest of the snowfall is expected later this afternoon and evening.  Accidents have already been reported throughout the area and conditions are worsening.  If can avoid driving please do so to allow road crews a chance to get ahead of creating the roadways.  4 to 6 more inches of snow is expected.  

If anyone calls you and pretends to be a relative who is in trouble and needs cash fast...and asks you help by buying gift cards or to wire/transfer money, it is most LIKELY a SCAM.

Please call other family members to verify any truth to such calls and/or notify your local police department by calling 9-1-1.

Castle Shannon Police took 10 reports of Unlocked Vehicles being entered in the overnight hours of Saturday November 28- Sunday morning November 29, 2020.

Items taken included tools, wallet, cellphone, an Ipad and miscellaneous documents. Please lock your vehicle, even if it is in your driveway.

Other thefts from vehicles regionally, include instances where thieves smashed vehicle windows to access valuables left in plain sight.

Especially during the holidays when you might have gifts and other valuables in your vehicle, remove valuable items when you park your car.
