Attention all Bellevue Elementary School parents. You will notice a change on the S. Howard Ave side of the school. The area from Lincoln Avenue to the rear of the school has been changed to fire lane and the curb is painted red. The vehicle traffic on S. Howard has been a major issue for decades and we have tried various methods to accommodate everyone.
Going forward the police department will strictly enforce the fire zone on S. Howard Ave. Vehicles cannot stop or park in this zone for any reason and will be ticketed and towed if necessary. Areas outside the fire lane will be given a concession if you are dropping off or picking up your child. If your child is old enough to walk to your vehicle there will be plenty of room to pull over on S. Howard beyond the fire lane and have your child walk to your vehicle. If your child is younger and you need to pick them up at the door we recommend legally parking on Lincoln Ave., S. Fremont Ave., or Jefferson Ave.
We believe this will increase safety and accommodate parents who pick up their children with a vehicle.
Be safe and have a great school year,
Chief Sentner
