The question being asked, will the police arrest me if I do not wear a mask?  No, we will not arrest you for not wearing a mask.  However, stores can refuse customer’s entry who do not agree with their policies. 

We understand that there are both sides of the coin, those who agree with the policies and those who believe differently.  We also understand that this comes with tension, both political and personal.  It is our job as law enforcement to protect the rights of everyone and focus on keeping the peace. 

We sincerely request that all residents and visitors put their personal feelings aside while shopping and realize that the employees of the local businesses are only doing as they are told and should not be subject to harassment or ill-treatment.

The police department will respond to any disturbances to calm the situation.  Tempers and actions can escalate rapidly which may take matters into a situation where laws may be violated.  If someone feels the policies implemented by any store are too intrusive, they should seek alternative methods of shopping, i.e. delivery or curbside pick-up. 

We hope everyone can peacefully cooperate with our local businesses and realize they did not make the policy, they are merely following them.
