Officers Honored for Performance
The awarding of a commendation to a police officer doesn't come lightly. In the early morning hours of 9/11/2022 Officer Dold and Officer Blair definitely earned the accolades they received yesterday.
Their actions saved the life of a lifelong Bellevue resident Mr. Grant Saylor. They responded to a report of a person down and not breathing and arrived at the residence within 3 minutes. Upon arrival, they found Mr. Saylor in bed and recognized his dire situation. Within one minute both officers were able to move the patient to the floor, rearrange furniture, begin CPR, apply the AED pads and administer two shocks before the arrival of EMS. They did not stop and assisted EMS for nearly an hour which resulted in the recovery of a pulse and the saving of Mr. Saylor's life.
To top off the night Grant accompanied by his family was present for the awarding of the medals by Mayor Pennington and had an opportunity to speak with the officers plus get in a few photo ops! It isn't often first responders have the opportunity to shake hands and get a hug from the people we have critical incidents with and this was truly an amazing performance and wonderful outcome!
