On 9/1/2017 at approximately 1917 hours, Pleasant Hills police were dispatched for a report of a male drinking beer and driving a blue Chevrolet truck. The driver was reported to have struck a barrier in the roadway and was heading northbound on S.R.51. A Brentwood Borough Police Officer located the vehicle and observed the driver drinking an alcoholic beverage. The driver, later identified as Richard Bucks was instructed to pull over by the officer. Bucks failed to follow this order and continued to drive on. Bucks drove recklessly through parking lots, in the wrong lane of travel, and ultimately performed a dangerous U-turn and proceeded southbound on S.R.51. Bucks did ram the officers marked police vehicle and he then turned on Delco Road. Bucks did lose control of his vehicle striking another motorist. This motorist was later transported to the hospital for evaluation. While taking Bucks into custody, another Brentwood officer sustained a laceration on his arm and also followed-up at the hospital for evaluation. Inside the vehicle were multiple empty been cans. Bucks was transported to Jefferson Hospital for a blood draw. Bucks was operating the vehicle while his driver license was suspended-DUI related. He was later transported to the Allegheny County Jail for arraignment.
