Good morning:
We would like to advise everyone that the viewing for fallen McKeesport Police Officer Sean Sluganski will be held at John F. Slater funeral home on Brownsville Road on Sunday (2/12) and Monday (2/13). The funeral home is unable to accommodate all the anticipated parking needs on these days so there will be a shuttle bus from the old "Benson Lincoln Mercury" in Whitehall Borough on these days. On Tuesday (2/14), there will be a procession from the funeral home along Brownsville Road to Saint Alberts Church in Baldwin Borough. After the mass, there will be a very large procession along Brownsville Road heading to Route 51.
We want to advise everyone that there will be a lot of guests in town starting on Sunday. We kindly ask all our residents who have off-street parking available to please use it and please park as many vehicles off the street as possible.
On Tuesday, there will be no parking on Brownsville Road after 9am. We will temporarily close Brownsville Road to all vehicle access starting at 10:30am. This closure is expected to last for approximately 1 hour or less. We will then need to re-close Brownsville Road at approximately 2pm. If you do travel on SR51 near Brownsville Road, there will be an extended delay at this intersection. These closures and delays may last for several hours. Everyone is encouraged to work from home on this day or find alternate routes to/from work since there will be no access.
Lastly, we would like to thank everyone for their continued patience and support in this tragic time as Officer Sluganski paid the ultimate sacrifice for protecting the City of McKeesport. We encourage you to come to Brentwood to show your respect to Officer Sluganski during the procession with other members of the community.
Thank you.
