Castle Shannon Police Department Welcomes New Officers
The Castle Shannon Police Department is pleased to announce the addition of two new officers to its team: Officer Matthew Cater (Badge 1743)and Officer Daniel (D.J.) Opsatnik (Badge 1744).
Officer Cater graduated from Penn State University in 2023 with a Major in Criminal Justice. He attended the Allegheny County Police Training Academy and graduated in December 2024.
Officer Opsatnik, a second-generation law enforcement officer, graduated from Slippery Rock University in 2023 with a Major in Sports Medicine. D.J. attended the ACPTA with Cater.
The Officers were sworn in on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Borough Council meeting.
We extend a warm welcome to Officers Cater and Opsatnik as they begin their service to the community. Their dedication to public safety and commitment to excellence will undoubtedly make a positive impact in our community. We are confident that their skills and experience will be a valuable asset to our department and look forward to working together to maintain the highest level of service to our citizens.
