COVID Cases – 1,059 (+17)
This number includes 1,034 confirmed and 25 probable cases. A case is probable when the person displays symptoms of COVID-19 and has had close contact with a confirmed positive case but has not had a test themselves. We are including probable cases to better assess the level of community spread. Further breakdown of the cases will be available on the dashboard this coming week.
The ages, as well as the percentage of cases represented, of those in the county with COVID-19 are listed below.
00-04 – 2 (less than 1%)
05-12 – 4 (less than 1%)
13-18 – 10 (1%)
19-24 – 77 (7%)
25-49 – 373 (35%)
50-64 – 297 (28%)
65 + -- 296 (28%)
The gender of those with COVID-19 are listed below:
Female – 569 (54%)
Male – 486 (46%)
Of the 1,059 cases, there are 188 past or present hospitalizations (+8).
To date, there have been 67 deaths (+12). Of reported deaths, 55 are confirmed (had positive test) and 12 probable cases. A probable death is one where COVID-19 is listed on the deceased’s death certificate, but the person never had a positive test for the virus. All deaths are of individuals ranging in age from 42-103, with 83 being the median age of those who have died.
The Allegheny County Health Department is deeply saddened by the toll COVID-19 is having on long-term care facilities in the county. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, 181 residents and 64 staff members at 34 long-term care facilities in Allegheny County have tested positive for COVID-19. There have been 43 deaths at those facilities.
