This is the COVID-19 Daily Update from the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) for April 22, 2020.
COVID Cases – 1,088 (+29)
This number includes 1,052 confirmed cases and 36 probable cases. A case is probable when the person displays symptoms of COVID-19 and has had close contact with a confirmed positive case but has not had a test themselves. We are including probable cases to better assess the level of community spread.
The ages, as well as the percentage of cases represented, of those in the county with COVID-19 are listed below.
00-04 – 2 (less than 1%)
05-12 – 4 (less than 1%)
13-18 – 10 (1%)
19-24 – 80 (7%)
25-49 – 377 (35%)
50-64 – 305 (28%)
65 + -- 310 (28%)
The gender of those with COVID-19 are listed below:
Female – 584 (54%)
Male – 500 (46%)
Of the 1,088 cases, there are 196 past or present hospitalizations (+8).
To date, there have been 74 deaths (+7). Of reported deaths, 74 are confirmed (had positive test) and 15 probables. A probable death is one where COVID-19 is listed on the deceased’s death certificate, but the person never had a positive test for the virus. All deaths are of individuals ranging in age from 42-103, with 84 being the median age of those who have died.
We continue to extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those who have lost loved ones, and our thoughts go out to all those who have been impacted by the virus.
