COVID Cases – 1,224 (+13)
This number includes 1,190 confirmed cases and 34 probable cases. A case is probable when the person displays symptoms of COVID-19 and has had close contact with a confirmed positive case but has not had a positive test themselves. We are including probable cases to better assess the level of community spread.
The ages, as well as the percentage of cases represented, of those in the county with COVID-19 are listed below.
00-04 – 4 (less than 1%)
05-12 – 4 (less than 1%)
13-18 – 10 (1%)
19-24 – 81 (7%)
25-49 – 424 (35%)
50-64 – 347 (28%)
65 + -- 354 (29%)
The gender of those with COVID-19 are listed below:
Female – 661 (54%)
Male – 563 (46%)
Of the 1,224 cases, 169 cases are in healthcare workers. This reflects 14% of the COVID-19 cases in Allegheny County. The Health Department thanks all of our frontline workers for keeping us healthy and safe.
Additionally, there are 213 past or present hospitalizations (no change).
To date, there have also been 79 deaths (+6). Of reported deaths, 72 are confirmed (had positive test) and 7 probable. A probable death is one where COVID-19 is listed on the deceased’s death certificate, but the person never had a positive test for the virus. All deaths are of individuals ranging in age from 42-103, with 84 being the median age of those who have died.
We continue to extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those who have lost loved ones, and our thoughts go out to all those who have been impacted by the virus.
