Castle Shannon Police report a 1 vehicle crash on Rte 88/Library Rd at Killarney Dr on 9-2-21.

At approximately 840pm CSPD responded with the CSVFD and MRSTSA EMS to a reported vehicle over a hillside in the 3100 Block of Library Rd.

Upon arrival, crews found an SUV approximately 40ft over a steep embankment above Saw Mill Run Creek.

The initial investigation found that the lone occupant, an adult male driver, was traveling southbound on Library Rd.

The SUV crashed through the guiderail, and traversed approximately 200ft through the wooded hillside, before coming to rest precariously against several trees.

Emergency Service Crews accessed the vehicle and coached the driver into assisting with his extrication.
They used ropes to pull the driver up to safety. The driver suffered head and other injuries and he was transported to a local hospital.

Castle Shannon Emergency Crews were assisted by police from Mt Lebanon and Baldwin Township ,the Mt Lebanon Fire Department and Medical Rescue Team South.

The crash remains under investigation.
