The first Tuesday in August is set aside to celebrate National Night Out.
The program is designed to enhance relationships between the Police and the Community through neighbor participation in an awareness campaign, traditionally demonstrated by sitting on your front porch with your neighbors.
One of the thoughts put forward is that, by showing solidarity in awareness, the community sends a message to criminals that we will stand together to thwart their efforts.
We at CSPD have traditionally held that every night should be National Night Out.
We have been successful recently making arrests for thefts from unlocked cars, due in part to attentive neighbors who called 911 when they saw something suspicious.
We encourage all residents to call 911 when they see or hear suspicious activity, people, vehicles or circumstances. If you see something SAY SOMETHING...and please lock your cars, even when they are in your driveway.
