Thefts from UNLOCKED cars overnight in Castle Shannon.

Castle Shannon Police responded to a report of suspicious activity in the overnight hours, in the area of Middleboro, Blossom Hill, Terrace, Orr and Hamilton Park.

A caller reported seeing 3 young males in masks wearing backpacks. walking on neighbors' properties. The caller confronted them, and they ran.
 
Later this morning a resident reported that their vehicle was stolen. It had been unlocked with keys left in it. The car was recovered in Wilkinsburg hours later.
 
This is yet another of many opportunities to remind residents to lock your vehicles, even when they are in your driveway.
It is also a good idea to remove valuables from your vehicle. The most common items stolen are cell phones, wallets and cash.
 
Unfortunately, it is not all that uncommon for people to leave keys and even guns in their cars.
 
If any resident in the Hamilton Park area has doorbell video or other surveillance with any information related to this case, please call 911.
